Comments

The ARC 2000 Yacht is a revolutionary design. The usable space on the yacht is double that of a conventional yacht of similar size. There is garage for a large amount of water sports equipment. With its detachable marina located under the central body section, a protected swimming platform with extended marina facilities can be created. The generous interior leaves ample space for 8 guests, and the retractable panel system offers a large and versatile open deck option. The different optional propulsion systems enable speeds from 20 to 50 knots and add the flexibility to customize each yacht to the owner's requirements. The different energy recovery systems will not only reduce running costs considerably but also guarantee that the ARC 2000 will be at the forefront of modern yachting technology for years to come.

M/Y ARC 2000 16 meters

1 General Specifications

1.1 General Description:

This 16 meter Motor Yacht is a hybrid catamaran with a multi chine planing hull form. The design combines low and high speed characteristics of wave piercing yachts with the advantages of a planing yacht. This makes for very efficient and comfortable passages. The yacht will be built of FRP composite construction and designed to ABS rules.

1.2 Construction Design & Plans:

These will be prepared by Advanced Design & Technology (ADT). The delivery of the plans will be approximately 4 months. The construction period will be between 10 to 12 months, depending on the complexity of the interior outfitting.

1.3 Construction Facilities:

The yacht will be built under a permanent roof facility with temperature and humidity control. The workspace will be suitable for FRP composite construction and will have facilities for interior component construction, in addition to equipment installation.

1.4 Trials:

All machinery and equipment will be installed and tested prior to dehvery. Sea trials will be conducted to insure all machinery and equipment are fully operational. Sea trials will include machinery run-ups and trials as well as associated machinery operational tests of the yacht.

2 CONSTRUCTION:

2.1 Hull and Superstructure Construction Method:

The yacht's hull and superstructure will be built of one-off FRP composite construction to the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) rules. The yacht will have specifically designed and engineered FRP lay-ups of vacuum bag epoxy resin, E Glass Cloths, S Glass Cloths and Keviar / Carbon Directional Fibers with varying thickness of high density structural foam core and honey comb core for reduction in weight. The bulkheads will be constructed of high-density structural foam and honeycomb core. The overall structure will be supported by a combination of watertight bulkheads, ring frames, longitudinal stiffeners and collision bulkheads; all according to the ABS rules. The machinery beds will be integrated into the structure. The design of the structure will minimize weight while maximizing the strength of the yacht.

2.2 Interior Construction Method:

Lightweight FRP composites using honeycomb sandwich panels and other light weight materials, as required. Edge trim, surface coverings will be used with regard to weight and styling.

2.3 Interior Surface Finishes:

Bulkheads Varnished or fabric covered
Ceilings Composite construction, covered with vinyl or equal
Stairs Composite construction covered with Marindeck 2000 or equal
Floors Staterooms and reception areas Carpets or equivalent
Floors Navigation / Bridge Covered with Marindeck 2000 or equal
Floors bathrooms Covered with Marindeck 2000 or equal

A unit behind the sofa, is suspended from the ceiling, it includes a large 1.5 m/5 ft, retractable screen for TV and VCR viewing (rear projection type) as well as clear glass display shelving. The unit directly below serves as storage for the salon equipment and display material. All materials are composite and non-allergic foam type with surfacing by owner's choice from supplied samples.

3.11 Storage Compartment:

(1.0 m/ 3.3 ft high)

An area used for onboard storage. Directly accessible from the central bar / galley, the space contains one chilling, one freezing unit and compartments for dry food storage on one side and one further chilling unit as well as shelving for bottles on the other side. The other structural cavities of the lower part of the vessel's central section are filled with super buoyancy material, which also serves as sound and heat insulation. Additional storage and fuel tanks can be built into this area, at the owner's cost, yet at the loss of some super buoyancy material.
